'Sweater Weather'. One of our new colourways for Autumn/Winter 2021. A variegated melange of falling leaf colours to celebrate a knitters favourite time of year: the one where it starts getting cold enough to get the knits out! Brown, red, russet, ochre, green, pumpkin orange and chestnut intermingle and blend throughout the length of the yarn.. Co-ordinates with our other Autumn/Winter '21 colourways Roast Chestnuts & Blackberry Crumble (see 5th photo).
DK Base 100g:
100% 23 micron merino wool. 100g = 300m (approx). Needle size 3-4mm. Tension/gauge 5 stitches, 7 rows per inch.

As colours can differ slightly between batches, we recommend purchasing enough yarn to finish your project from the same batch. If your desired number of skeins are not available on your chosen base, please message us and we will dye the needed quantity.
Merino sheep produce a fine, soft wool that is also strong and durable. The fibres can be as fine as 18-23 micron (the Kent Romney averages 28-30 micron thickness) making it feel soft and itch-free next to your skin.
Other benefits of merino fibre include its warmth relative to its weight, as it has a natural loft that traps heat very effectively between the fibres (and is warmer than a synthetic fibre of the same weight). It is also good in warmer climates as its breathability and moisture management properties efficiently regulate your body temperature; in fact, merino can absorb 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch. This ability helps with odour-management, because the bacteria that can cause odour don't have the moist environment they need to thrive.
Our merino is responsibly sourced by our suppliers in Yorkshire, the heart of the British wool & textile industry.
Natural & man-made fibres & pollution:
FHY's use of man made fibres (nylon, polyamide and stellina) is kept to an absolute minimum to prevent micro-fibre pollution, and these fibres are only included where it is necessary for the strength of the yarn (sock and lace) or for the aesthetic properties of the stellina sparkle. If you are concerned about micro fibre pollution, laundry bags which catch fibres before they leave your machine are produced by brands such as Guppyfriend. Natural fibres like wool will biodegrade and do not cause pollution. We use professional quality acid dyes to colour our yarn, and always re-use water and/or neutralise the mild acid used to create the dye bath before disposal.
Care and washing:
Gentle hand washing of hand dyed and hand knitted/crocheted items is recommended. Yarns marked superwash can be machine washed at 30 degrees, but I personally prefer hand washing in warm water using a mild detergent before lying flat to dry (no-rinse wool specific products such as eucalan or soak are great for this). Please note that hand-dyed yarns may shed a little colour when first washed. This does not affect the fastness of the colour, and is due to excess loose dye particles.

Please note that custom requests such as a different base yarn or in larger quantities are easily achieved with no 'custom' surcharge added to the price. I am happy to oblige if I can, just message me and i'll quote you a cost and time scale.
FHY accepts payment by Direct Payments, paypal and credit and debit cards through paypal. If you have bought an item by mistake convo me immediately and I will cancel and refund your payment so long as the item hasn't already been shipped.
Covid-19: Delivery runs are made 3 times a week. Please be assured that the FHY workspace is normally clean and tidy and I am taking extra precautions during this period whilst packing your orders.

With damaged items take a picture and attach it to a convo, we will replace all damaged items with out further charge... this hasn't happened yet! Please remember should your postie decided to sit/stamp or otherwise destroy your item it's not our fault and contact us before you leave negative feedback so we can sort this out amicably!
Items should be returned in the same condition they were sent out in.
Should an item be returned, please note that I am unable to refund the money already paid to the post office. This is something out of my control as a small business reliant on Royal Mail. Thank you for your understanding.
