These are a quick and satisfying festive make — perfect for attaching gift tags, as tree decorations, or just using up odds and ends from your yarn stash. Each tassel uses less than 1.5 metres of yarn, so a 10g mini skein will give you 6–7 tassels.
What You’ll Need:

Yarn (approx. 1.5m per tassel)

A ruler or something 4–5cm wide

Scissors or snips

A wool needle
Steps:

Select your yarn and tools.

Wind the yarn around the ruler 20 times.

Cut a 30cm length of yarn, fold it in half, and thread the tails through a wool needle.

Slide the needle under the wrapped yarn (close to one edge of the ruler) and then through the loop you created.

Pull tight to secure the centre of the bundle.

Carefully cut through the wrapped yarn on the opposite side of the ruler.

You now have a bundle of strands secured in the middle.

Hold both ends of the bundle together neatly.

Wrap a 20cm length of yarn tightly around the top (near the fold) to create the “neck” of the tassel.

Knot to secure.

Trim the ends to make them even.

Admire your mini tassel.

Attach to your gift.
I used a mini skein of last year’s Christmas colourway Spruce in merino 4ply (now sold out), but my Emerald Green merino blend works beautifully too. I paired mine with wrapping papers from Daunton Marbling for a handmade decorative flourish.
