A digital download of 1 x 'Beach Hut Bunting' Crochet pattern. UK crochet terminology. Written in English with both written and charted instructions.

This bunting is inspired by artist Rana Begum's beach huts, designed for Folkestone Art Triennial 2021.

Officially named 'No. 1054 Arpeggio', the 120 beach huts are coloured in rising and descending sequences of rainbow colours. I have chosen to focus on the triangular motifs of huts 33 through to 57, the repetitive geometric patterns of which take influence from Islamic Art and Urban Architecture. The huts are one of the more permanent public artworks, so will be kept in place long after Triennial has officially ended, adding joy and colour to Folkestone's Mermaid Beach.

The bunting is crocheted using Ricorumi DK 100% cotton, which is available in 80 different shades and comes in very affordable 25g mini balls, offering almost endless possibilities for your own colour combinations! Each tasselled flag uses approximately 15g/35m of cotton DK yarn making this an ideal stash buster project if you would prefer to substitute with another Cotton DK.

Size:
Version 1 has 9 flags and measures 3m long by 30cm deep.
Version 2 has 16 flags and measures 5.2m long by 30cm deep.

Skill level:
Beginner/Easy. Skills needed are chain, slip stitch, double crochet, treble crochet and tassel making (explained in Techniques section).

Tools Needed:
- 4mm crochet hook.
- 11 or 19 balls of Ricorumi DK 100% cotton. 57.5m per 25g. Yarn Alternatives: any DK cotton with a similar weight to length ratio.
- Large needle for weaving in ends.
- Scissors or snips.

Gauge: Gauge is not critical in this design, and blocking will correct any misshaped stitches, but if you are aware that you crochet particularly loosely I would suggest using a smaller crochet hook, e.g. 3.5mm.

Please note, this is a digital download not a printed pattern.
