Vesivirta Watercurrent Blue White Variegated Merino Sock yarn 4ply 100g

'Vesivirta (Watercurrent - Finnish). A variegated pale blue, white & grey 4ply weight yarn inspired by the colours used to paint the shimmering water of the lake.

Dyed on soft and durable merino sock yarn.

Sock Yarn Base : 75% merino wool, 25% nylon. 50g = 212m (approx), 100g= 425m (approx). Gauge 10cm square 34 sts & 44 rows on 2.75mm needles.

Needle size 2.25mm-3.5mm.

The Lake Keitele collection is inspired by Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela's painting of Lake Keitele (see last image). I first saw this painting in the National Gallery, London circa 1999 and was struck by the shimmering movement of the water currents portrayed with simple brush strokes and the seeming tranquility of the wild Finnish landscape.
