Vintage Ceramic Kittens on a Yarn Ball Piggy Bank

An adorable vintage money/piggy bank in the shape of 2 kittens playing on a giant ball of wool.

Yarn ball is yellow, with 1 grey and 1 orange kitten. Money slot to one side of the ball. Hole with stopper to base.

Made from glazed ceramic with hand painted details. Very good condition given its age. There is some slight crackling to parts of the glaze, which is to be expected, but no chips that I can see, even in the more delicate extremities like ears and feet.

This item is stamped as 'FOREIGN' which dates it prior to the 1968 Trade Description Act. The "Tom & Jerry" cartoon style of the cats suggests it is a 1950's item, but there are no other manufacturers marks to date it from.

The original rubber stopper to the base had disintegrated beyond use, so has been replaced with a modern equivalent white rubber stopper.
