Day 25:  

Dye colour: Cochineal Red. Made from South American insects, this rich red tone is perfect for Christmas Day!!       

Knitting Pattern:  Crest of the Wave. This will create a wavy edge to mirror the Horseshoe Lace on Day 1. Join todays yarn & follow the charted pattern for 18 rows. Cast off loosely (you may want to use a larger needle for this).        

Row 441: RS. Sl 1, k2 tog, yo. Slip stitch marker, * k1, k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, ssk, ssk, k1 *. Repeat from * to * 3 more times, then k1, slip stitch marker, knit 3. Turn work (59 sts)    

Row 442 & all even numbered/WS rows: WS. Sl 1, k2 tog, yo. Slip stitch marker, purl to 3 before end, slip stitch marker, knit 3. Turn work (59 sts)     

Row 443: Repeat row 441.     

Row 445: Repeat row 441.     

Row 447: Repeat row 441.     

Row 449: RS. Sl 1, k2 tog, yo. Slip stitch marker, knit to 3 before end, slip stitch marker, knit 3. Turn work (59 sts)     

Rows 451 through 458: Repeat rows 441 through 448.     

Final row: Cast off loosely using the cast off of your choice. I prefer the traditional/standard bind off method using a needle one or 2 sizes larger than those you have used to knit the scarf.

Tip: Wash & block your scarf  before weaving in and snipping ends.     

Blocking: To block your scarf, soak in hand hot water with a light detergent for half an hour before pressing between a towel to remove excess water (do not wring).  Leave to dry before removing your handmade item.Blocking corrects any tension defects in individual stitches, giving your item a nice finish.
